Mechanical Fitter – Join a Growing Team

Our client is seeking an experienced and motivated Mechanical Fitter to join their skilled engineering team. This is an excellent opportunity to work with a well-established company delivering high-quality mechanical installation, maintenance, and repair services across a range of industrial environments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assemble, install, and fit mechanical components and equipment.
  • Carry out maintenance, repairs, and fault-finding on machinery and plant equipment.
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings, schematics, and technical documentation.
  • Ensure all work is completed to high-quality standards and within project deadlines.
  • Conduct inspections and testing of mechanical systems.
  • Follow health and safety procedures at all times.
  • Collaborate with engineers, supervisors, and other trades on site.

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a Mechanical Fitter, Maintenance Fitter, or similar role.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
  • Strong mechanical fault-finding and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience working with pumps, conveyors, motors, gearboxes, or similar industrial equipment.
  • Relevant engineering qualification (NVQ Level 3, City & Guilds, Apprenticeship, or equivalent preferred).
  • Full UK driving licence (if required for the role).
  • Strong commitment to health and safety practices.

Desirable Skills

  • Welding and fabrication experience.
  • Experience in manufacturing, processing, utilities, or heavy industry environments.
  • Forklift, IPAF, or MEWP certification.
  • Experience with preventative maintenance programmes.
