Job Title: Laboratory Technician
Location: Kettering
Reports to: Plant Quality Laboratory Manager
Salary: £31,626.90 (during probation), increasing to £32,076.24 post-probation
Contract: 12-month fixed-term contract
Working Hours: Thursday–Sunday (working on Saturday and Sunday is required as part of weekend cover), with flexibility for remaining days worked in the week i.e Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday. General Hours are 8:30 am - 4:30 pm with a 30-minute unpaid lunch break, total 37.5 hours per week.

Role Overview:

Interaction Recruitment is seeking a Laboratory Technician to join our client’s quality-focused team. This is an exciting opportunity to play an important role in maintaining the safety and quality of products through routine testing. You will work closely with different teams to ensure products meet the highest standards before reaching customers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Quality Control:

    • Perform sampling and analysis (protein, pH, calcium, ATP, etc.) of raw materials, semi-finished, and finished products.

    • Follow all quality and food safety procedures, including water and packaging inspections.

  • Documentation & Reporting:

    • Record results using SAP, Excel, and LIMS. Report non-conformities and assist with product releases.

  • Calibration & Maintenance:

    • Calibrate laboratory instruments and ensure the lab is well-maintained and organized.

  • Sensorial & Microbiological Analysis:

    • Participate in taste panels, plate samples for Total Viable Count (TVC), and perform ATP analyses.

  • Collaboration & Improvement:

    • Assist in training production staff, participate in proficiency testing, and troubleshoot product issues.

Candidate Profile:

  • Experience:

    • Previous experience in a laboratory environment, with skills in physic-chemical and microbiological analyses.

    • Familiarity with lab instruments and techniques (e.g., calibration, troubleshooting).

  • Technical Skills:

    • Proficiency with Excel, Word, and LIMS (desirable).

  • Personal Attributes:

    • Strong attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work independently.
