Site Mechanical Engineer / Pump Service Engineer

Location: Harlow, Essex
Salary: £35,000 – £45,000 per annum, depending on experience
Job Type: Permanent, Full-Time
Hours: Monday–Thursday 8:00am–4:30pm | Friday 8:00am–3:30pm
Overtime: Available and paid at premium rates

The Opportunity

We are working with an established engineering business in Harlow that is looking to appoint an experienced Site Mechanical Engineer / Pump Service Engineer.

This is a hands-on position combining customer-site and workshop work, servicing, maintaining, overhauling and repairing pumps, motors and other industrial rotating equipment.

You will primarily cover customer sites within approximately a 50-mile radius of Harlow, so a full UK driving licence is essential.

Key Responsibilities

  • Service, maintain and repair industrial pumps.

  • Strip, inspect, overhaul and rebuild pumps.

  • Replace mechanical seals, bearings and other components.

  • Diagnose mechanical faults and carry out repairs.

  • Repair and rebuild single-phase and three-phase electric motors.

  • Service industrial fans and blower units.

  • Work on industrial gearboxes and rotating machinery.

  • Carry out mechanical assembly and disassembly.

  • Undertake fault finding on mechanical and associated electrical systems.

  • Work with electrical controls where required.

  • Test repaired and refurbished equipment.

  • Complete service reports and job documentation.

  • Liaise directly with customers while working on site.

  • Attend breakdowns and emergency call-outs when required.

  • Travel to customer sites within approximately 50 miles of Harlow.

  • Support workshop activities when required.

What We're Looking For

The ideal candidate will have:

  • At least 5 years' experience in mechanical/electrical engineering.

  • Strong experience repairing and servicing industrial pumps and/or electric motors.

  • Experience with bearings, mechanical seals and pump overhauls.

  • Experience working with industrial fans, blowers, gearboxes or similar machinery.

  • Strong mechanical fault-finding skills.

  • Experience with single and three-phase motors.

  • Good electrical awareness; electrical controls experience is advantageous.

  • Ability to work independently at customer sites.

  • Good customer-facing communication skills.

  • A full UK driving licence.

  • The right to work in the UK.

Experience with freshwater or sewage pumps would be particularly useful.
