Business Development Manager
Salary: £35,000–£40,000 + Bonus
Location: Northamptonshire, UK (Hybrid) with International Travel

Interaction Recruitment are supporting a specialist engineering manufacturer operating in a niche, high‑performance market. Their bespoke solutions include advanced torque measurement systems, instrumented couplings and driveline technologies used by some of the world’s most innovative organisations across aerospace, defence, energy, automotive, and advanced R&D.
Our strength is solving complex engineering challenges through close customer collaboration, bringing together mechanical design, instrumentation and test‑stand integration. With demand continuing to grow internationally, we are expanding our commercial team and seeking a Business Development Manager to help drive further global success.
The Role
Reporting to the Head of Sales, the Business Development Manager will play a key role in developing new business and managing strategic accounts across the UK and Europe. This is an ideal position for a technically minded sales professional who thrives in a consultative environment, navigating long sales cycles and working closely with engineering teams.
Regular travel will be required to engage with customers, partners, and international agents.
Key Responsibilities
- Identify and develop new business opportunities across targeted sectors and regions.
- Manage and grow key customer accounts, building long‑term relationships at engineering and management level.
- Work closely with internal engineering and project teams to understand requirements and propose technical solutions.
- Prepare and follow up on commercial offers, tenders and technical proposals.
- Support and coordinate activities with international agents and partners.
- Represent the company at customer meetings, exhibitions, conferences and industry events.
- Maintain accurate CRM records, sales forecasts and a healthy opportunity pipeline.
- Provide market insights to support product development and strategic planning.
Candidate Profile
Essential:
- Proven B2B business development or technical sales experience.
- Background in engineering, industrial equipment, test systems or instrumentation.
- Ability to understand and communicate complex technical solutions effectively.
- Strong commercial awareness and negotiation capability.
- Willingness to travel 30–50% (UK, Europe and occasional long‑haul).
- Excellent written and spoken English.
Desirable:
- Experience with aerospace, turbomachinery, defence, power generation or automotive testing sectors.
- Familiarity with torque measurement, couplings, driveline systems or dynamometers.
- Experience working with agents or distributors.
- Additional European language(s).
