Contract Electrical Engineer – Installation Projects 

Northampton 

About the Role:
Our client, a reputable engineering services provider, is seeking an experienced Contract Electrical Engineer to lead and support electrical installation projects across commercial and/or industrial site. This is a hands-on role requiring technical expertise, strong project coordination skills, and a commitment to high-quality, safe installations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and carry out electrical installation works according to project requirements and current regulations (BS 7671).

  • Supervise or coordinate subcontractors and on-site teams to ensure safe and efficient execution.

  • Carry out inspections, testing, and commissioning of installed systems.

  • Produce and review electrical drawings, specifications, and documentation.

  • Ensure compliance with HSE standards and client-specific protocols.

  • Liaise with project managers, site personnel, and stakeholders on progress and technical issues.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience in electrical installation work (preferably in commercial or industrial settings).

  • HNC/HND or equivalent in Electrical Engineering.

  • 18th Edition IET Wiring Regulations certification.

  • ECS/CSCS Card (Gold or above preferred).

  • Strong knowledge of LV systems, containment, cabling, and control systems.

  • Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.

  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and drawings.

  • Availability to travel to project sites as required.

Desirable:

  • CompEx, HV Authorisation, or SSSTS/SMSTS.

  • Experience working on large-scale M&E projects or within the energy/utilities sector.
