Chartered Building Surveyor required in Rochester

My client is seeking an experienced Chartered Building Surveyor to join their team based out of their Rochester office to carry out works in London, Kent and Essex. As a chartered member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors, the postholder signs off valuations and survey reports in their own name. They are accountable for the professional standards, independence and accuracy of that work. The role combines technical building surveying knowledge with valuation expertise and works closely with the structural and civil engineering teams where defects or structural concerns need specialist input.

Essential
⦁ Chartered Member (MRICS) or Fellow (FRICS) of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors, in the Building Surveying or Valuation pathway.
⦁ RICS Registered Valuer status. Candidates must hold it already or be able to obtain it within an agreed period of joining.
⦁ Degree in building surveying, real estate or a related RICS-accredited subject.
⦁ At least 5 years’ post-qualification experience valuing both residential and commercial property.
⦁ Sound knowledge of building construction, pathology and defects.
⦁ Strong report writing skills with close attention to accuracy and detail.
⦁ Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle.

Desirable
⦁ Experience on lender valuation panels.
⦁ Knowledge of leasehold enfranchisement and lease extension valuation.
⦁ Experience preparing reinstatement cost assessments.
⦁ Familiarity with development appraisal software such as Argus.
⦁ Experience acting as an APC counsellor or supervisor for candidates working towards chartership.
⦁ Existing professional network across London and the South East.

Key Skills & Attributes
⦁ Sound professional judgement, with the confidence to defend valuations under challenge.
⦁ Strong analytical and numerical ability.
⦁ Clear and professional communication, both written and verbal.
⦁ Well organised and able to manage a varied workload against deadlines.
⦁ Commercially aware and client-focused.
