HGV Technician

Location: Govan, Glasgow
Salary: £40,000-£46,000 + Overtime Available (£27ph Overtime Rate)

Interaction Recruitment are currently recruiting on behalf of our client for an experienced HGV Technician to join their expanding workshop team in Govan. Working from a modern, purpose-built facility in partnership with a leading commercial vehicle manufacturer, you will play a key role in maintaining a varied fleet of HGVs, vans and trailers, ensuring vehicles remain safe, compliant and operational.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out servicing, maintenance and repairs on HGVs, vans and trailers.
  • Conduct vehicle inspections, identify defects and complete required repairs.
  • Diagnose and rectify mechanical, electrical and electronic faults using diagnostic equipment.
  • Prepare vehicles for MOT inspections and present for testing when required.
  • Complete all work to manufacturer specifications and company standards.
  • Record inspections, repairs and parts usage accurately using digital job systems.
  • Communicate repair requirements and progress updates to workshop management.
  • Ensure all vehicles are thoroughly checked before returning to service.
  • Maintain a clean, safe and organised working environment.

Requirements

  • NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance and Repair.
  • Previous experience working as an HGV Technician, HGV Mechanic or Commercial Vehicle Technician.
  • Strong fault-finding and diagnostic abilities.
  • Experience carrying out vehicle inspections and MOT preparation.
  • Experience working on Mercedes-Benz trucks would be advantageous but is not essential.
  • Comfortable using workshop management and online job recording systems.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a busy workshop team.
  • Well organised with a strong attention to detail.
  • Commitment to delivering high standards of workmanship, quality and safety.
  • HGV Class 1 licence would be advantageous but is not essential.
