Facilities & Maintenance Technician
Location: Kettering, UK
Salary: Up to £25,000 per annum + on-call allowance
Hours: 37.5 hours per week
Shift Pattern: Rotating 3-week shift pattern
Interaction Recruitment are currently recruiting for a Facilities & Maintenance Technician to join the Facilities team of a well-established organisation based in Kettering.
This is a varied, hands-on position responsible for helping to ensure the organisation's sites are maintained in a safe, secure and efficient condition. The role covers general maintenance, facilities, site security and health and safety duties, making it an ideal opportunity for someone with a practical, hands-on approach.
The Role
As a Facilities & Maintenance Technician, your responsibilities will include:
- Carrying out general facilities, caretaking and maintenance duties
- Undertaking basic DIY, plumbing, painting and decorating
- Operating a FLT as required
- Completing toilet and facilities logs
- Opening and closing the site and maintaining site security
- Acting as a site key holder
- Responding to intruder and fire alarm call-outs
- Carrying out safety and maintenance checks on pool vehicles
- Conducting routine Health & Safety checks
- Supporting hospitality requirements when required
- Assisting with occasional heavy lifting and moving of equipment
- Working closely with colleagues across different departments to support the smooth running of the site
Working Hours
The role operates on a rotating three-week shift pattern:
Week 1: Monday to Friday, 5:30am – 1:30pm
Week 2: Monday to Friday, 8:00am – 4:00pm
Week 3: Monday to Friday, 11:00am – 7:00pm
There is also an on-call requirement one week in three, with an additional allowance paid for this.
About You
The successful candidate will ideally have:
- Previous experience in facilities, maintenance, caretaking, site services or a similar hands-on role
- A practical approach with basic DIY and maintenance skills
- A full UK driving licence
- The ability to work independently and as part of a team
- A flexible and adaptable approach
- A positive 'can-do' attitude
- Good problem-solving skills
- The ability to build effective working relationships across different departments
- The willingness to undertake training and become a qualified First Aider
- The ability to undertake some manual handling and heavy lifting when required
