Materials & Inventory Technician

 

We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Materials & Inventory Technician to join our team in Peterborough. This role is responsible for the efficient control of materials, inventory, goods movements, and quality documentation, supporting workshop operations and ensuring materials are accurately managed throughout the production process.

Key Responsibilities

  • Receive, inspect, and process incoming goods and materials.
  • Load and unload delivery vehicles safely and efficiently.
  • Verify deliveries against purchase orders and reject incorrect or damaged items.
  • Record and allocate materials using the E2 ERP system.
  • Coordinate the movement of materials throughout the workshop and production areas.
  • Pick, pack, and prepare materials and components for dispatch.
  • Complete and maintain quality control documentation for outgoing goods.
  • Manage quality records and ensure documentation is filed in accordance with ISO requirements.
  • Perform routine cycle counts and stock audits to maintain inventory accuracy.
  • Assist with bi-annual full stock takes and inventory reconciliation.
  • Process stock adjustments and investigate discrepancies where required.
  • Create and manage production jobs within specialist software systems.
  • Generate and distribute job travellers and production documentation.
  • Produce and verify profile sheets to support manufacturing activities.
  • Maintain a clean, organised, and efficient stores environment.
  • Ensure access routes, entrances, and exits remain free from obstructions and slip hazards.
  • Adhere to all Health & Safety policies and procedures.

Candidate Requirements

  • Experience within inventory control, materials management, stores, warehouse, manufacturing, or engineering environments.
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • Comfortable working with ERP systems and computer-based inventory management software.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Good communication skills and a team-focused approach.
  • Forklift licence advantageous but not essential.
