Powered Access Engineer

Location: Kettering, Northamptonshire
Salary: £32,000-£40,000, Overtime @1.5x and 2x on Sundays and Bank Holidays
Hours: Monday–Friday, 40 hours per week (flexible between 07:00–18:00)
Job Type: Full-time, Permanent

The Company

Interaction recruitment has partnered with a long‑established, family-owned organisation operating within the materials handling and powered access sector. Due to their successful growth, they are currently seeking a Powered Access Field Service Engineer to join their current team. The business supplies a wide range of equipment across the UK and prides itself on a close‑knit working environment where employees are valued and supported.

The package: 

  • 24 days annual leave + public holidays (32 days overall)

Key Responsibilities

  • Attend breakdowns and urgent callouts, delivering efficient fault resolution
  • Diagnose electrical, hydraulic and mechanical faults on powered access equipment
  • Perform routine servicing, LOLER inspections and preventative maintenance in line with manufacturer guidelines
  • Communicate clearly with customers and internal teams regarding required work, timelines and machine condition
  • Identify and source parts required to complete repairs
  • Complete service reports, job sheets and digital documentation accurately
  • Maintain safe, clean and organised working practices
  • Use diagnostic tools, schematics and service manuals to troubleshoot faults
  • Represent the company professionally on customer sites
  • Build strong customer relationships through technical expertise and reliability
  • Provide technical advice to customers and colleagues when required

Candidate Requirements

Essential

  • NVQ in Engineering (or equivalent)
  • Previous experience as a powered access engineer
  • Strong fault-finding capabilities (mechanical and electrical)
  • Clear and professional communication skills
  • Ability to work to tight deadlines
  • Flexible and supportive team approach
  • Thorough Examination Certificate
  • Full UK Driving Licence

Desirable

  • Experience using PDA and Protean software
  • IPAF Licence and/or CAP Licence
  •
