HGV Technician
Location: Kettering
Salary: £45,760-£54,000 + Overtime Available

Shifts: 4 on 4 off, days or nights
Interaction Recruitment are currently recruiting on behalf of our client for an experienced HGV Technician to join their expanding workshop team in Kettering. Working from a modern, purpose-built facility in partnership with a leading commercial vehicle manufacturer, you will play a key role in maintaining a varied fleet of HGVs, vans and trailers, ensuring vehicles remain safe, compliant and operational.

Key Responsibilities
- Carry out servicing, maintenance and repairs on HGVs, vans and trailers.
- Conduct vehicle inspections, identify defects and complete required repairs.
- Diagnose and rectify mechanical, electrical and electronic faults using diagnostic equipment.
- Prepare vehicles for MOT inspections and present for testing when required.
- Complete all work to manufacturer specifications and company standards.
- Record inspections, repairs and parts usage accurately using digital job systems.
- Communicate repair requirements and progress updates to workshop management.
- Ensure all vehicles are thoroughly checked before returning to service.
- Maintain a clean, safe and organised working environment.
Requirements
- NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance and Repair.
- Previous experience working as an HGV Technician, HGV Mechanic or Commercial Vehicle Technician.
- Strong fault-finding and diagnostic abilities.
- Experience carrying out vehicle inspections and MOT preparation.
- Experience working on Mercedes-Benz trucks would be advantageous but is not essential.
- Comfortable using workshop management and online job recording systems.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a busy workshop team.
- Well organised with a strong attention to detail.
- Commitment to delivering high standards of workmanship, quality and safety.
- HGV Class 1 licence would be advantageous but is not essential.
