Job Description

My client is currently looking to recruit an experienced and motivated Logistics & Warehouse Coordinator to join their growing team based in Thriplow, Cambridgeshire.

My client is a successful and expanding business within the food manufacturing industry, supplying high-quality products to customers across the UK and internationally.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a strong background in logistics, despatch, warehouse operations or transport coordination who is looking for a varied, hands-on position within a busy and fast-paced environment.

The successful candidate will be responsible for coordinating daily deliveries, managing despatch paperwork, arranging transport and supporting warehouse operations to ensure customer orders are processed accurately and delivered on time.

This role will involve a combination of administrative responsibilities and practical warehouse duties, so applicants must be comfortable working both in an office environment and on the warehouse floor.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinating daily logistics, warehouse and despatch operations.

  • Booking transport through hauliers, pallet networks and courier services for UK and international deliveries.

  • Preparing and processing delivery notes, transport documentation and export paperwork.

  • Arranging delivery bookings and coordinating delivery schedules with customer depots.

  • Liaising with transport companies, customers and suppliers regarding collections, deliveries and any issues.

  • Picking, packing, checking and preparing customer orders for despatch.

  • Loading and unloading goods when required.

  • Receiving incoming deliveries and checking goods against relevant documentation.

  • Maintaining accurate stock records and assisting with stock control.

  • Identifying and reporting stock discrepancies, shortages and damaged goods.

  • Supporting the investigation and resolution of delivery discrepancies and transport claims.

  • Ensuring orders are completed accurately and dispatched within agreed timescales.

  • Working closely with production and warehouse teams to ensure smooth daily operations.

  • Maintaining accurate administrative records using spreadsheets and internal systems.

  • Supporting general warehouse duties during busy periods.

  • Providing cover for despatch operations during staff holidays and absences.

  • Maintaining a clean, organised and safe warehouse environment.

  • Ensuring compliance with company health and safety procedures, food safety requirements and BRCGS standards.

Skills & Experience Required

  • Previous experience working within logistics, despatch, warehouse coordination or transport administration.

  • Experience arranging transport, booking deliveries and dealing with hauliers or couriers.

  • Good understanding of warehouse and stock control procedures.

  • Strong administrative and organisational skills.

  • Confident using computers, spreadsheets and Microsoft Office.

  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy when preparing documentation.

  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.

  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritise workloads effectively.

  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced manufacturing or warehouse environment.

  • A proactive, reliable and flexible approach to work.

  • Willingness to undertake practical warehouse duties alongside administrative responsibilities.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

  • Full UK driving licence due to the rural location.

Desirable Experience

  • Previous experience within food manufacturing or FMCG.

  • Experience organising international deliveries and preparing export documentation.

  • Knowledge of pallet networks, freight forwarding and courier booking systems.

  • Counterbalance forklift licence or previous forklift operating experience.

  • Experience using warehouse management or stock control systems.

  • Knowledge of food safety procedures and BRCGS standards.

Additional Information

Due to the rural location of the site in Thriplow, candidates will need to have their own transport, as public transport links are limited.

My client is looking for someone who can take ownership of their responsibilities, communicate effectively with customers and transport providers, and ensure the smooth running of daily logistics and despatch operations.

The ideal candidate will be organised, reliable, detail-oriented and happy to get involved with practical warehouse duties when required.
