Electrical Fitter / Panel Wirer (PLC Experience)

Location: Peterborough

Our client is looking for an experienced Electrical Fitter / Panel Wirer to join their growing engineering team in Peterborough. This is an excellent opportunity to work on a wide range of bespoke machinery and automation projects within a modern manufacturing environment.

This role is ideal for someone with a strong electrical assembly background who is confident with panel wiring, PLC systems, and interpreting electrical drawings to a high standard.

Key Responsibilities

• Build, wire, and assemble electrical control panels to a high standard.
• Install and wire electrical components on bespoke machinery and equipment.
• Work from electrical schematics and engineering drawings to complete builds accurately.
• Read, interpret, and follow electrical drawings and wiring diagrams.
• Assist with PLC wiring, fault finding, and support during machine testing and commissioning.
• Carry out electrical inspections and testing where required.
• Ensure all work complies with current electrical standards and health & safety regulations.
• Work closely with mechanical fitters and the wider engineering team to deliver projects on time.

The Ideal Candidate

• Previous experience as an Electrical Fitter, Panel Wirer, Control Panel Builder, or Electrical Technician.
• Experience working with PLC-controlled machinery and associated wiring.
• Confident reading and interpreting electrical schematics and wiring diagrams.
• Strong panel wiring and machine wiring experience.
• Excellent fault-finding and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• A recognised electrical qualification (NVQ Level 3, City & Guilds, or equivalent) is desirable.
