We are recruiting for an experienced Multi Point Folder Gluer Machine Operator / Minder to join a busy production environment based in Huntingdon on a permanent basis.

This is a great opportunity for someone with experience in folder gluing, carton production, packaging, print finishing, corrugated packaging, or similar production machinery who is looking to join a company where they can settle, develop, and progress within the role.

The salary is offered within a banding of £31,500 – £39,000 DOE, with salary progression available within the banding once fully settled into the role and operating confidently to company standards.

The company is particularly keen to speak with candidates who have experience on machinery such as Vega, Signature, Bobst or Diana, especially where candidates have worked with 4-corner cartons, bookwraps, crash lock cartons or corrugated envelopes. However, they are also open to candidates with strong transferable skills from similar machinery, packaging or print finishing environments who can adapt to their way of working and operating standards.

The successful candidate will be responsible for setting up and operating multi point folder gluer machinery to produce products to the correct quality standards, at target speed, and with minimal waste. The role requires a high level of accuracy, strong communication, and a methodical approach to work.

Key Responsibilities

  • Rapidly set up machinery to achieve target running speeds and OEE expectations
  • Carry out make-readies to a high standard, allowing the machine to run efficiently and consistently
  • Follow job bag instructions and approved master samples accurately
  • Operate process machinery safely, following all safety features, stop procedures, lock-out systems, safe systems of work, risk assessments and COSHH requirements
  • Identify and report any potential machine or production issues to the Production Manager
  • Understand corrugated material types and identify potential material issues
  • Carry out daily maintenance and support wider TPM tasks
  • Maintain a clean, safe and organised working environment in line with 5S standards
  • Take responsibility for assistants, feeders, stackers and packers where required
  • Support other areas of the business and carry out additional duties within your capability, depending on workload requirements

Skills & Experience Required

  • Previous folder gluer / gluing experience is preferred, ideally 2 years or more
  • Experience with Vega, Signature, Bobst, Diana or similar machinery would be highly advantageous
  • Experience gluing 4-corner cartons, bookwraps, crash lock cartons or corrugated envelopes would be beneficial
  • Experience within packaging, print finishing, carton production, corrugated packaging or similar production environments would be considered
  • Strong transferable machine operating skills from other relevant machinery or sectors may also be suitable
  • Ability to adapt to company processes, quality standards and ways of working
  • Good understanding of machine set-up, make-readies and production efficiency
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to identify root causes
  • Ability to work accurately and methodically
  • Good literacy and numeracy skills
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Flexible approach to working hours, including the ability to move to 12-hour shifts during peak periods
  • Willingness to learn new machines, processes and operating methods
  • Reliable, trustworthy and a strong team player
  • Able to remain calm under pressure and work effectively in a changing production environment
  • Positive, motivated and willing to support others when needed

The Ideal Candidate

You will be someone who takes pride in their work, understands the importance of quality and efficiency, and is motivated to produce the highest standard of output at the best possible speed with the least waste.

You may already have direct folder gluer experience, or you may come from a similar packaging, print finishing, carton production or machine operating background where you have built strong transferable skills. What is most important is your ability to learn, adapt, follow process, and work to the company’s required standards.

You will be confident working as part of a team, able to use your own initiative, and comfortable working within a fast-paced machine operation. Flexibility is essential, as working hours may change during peak production periods.
