Position: Senior Tekla Detailer
Sector: Structural & Architectural Steel

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Senior Tekla Detailer to join our growing team. This is a key technical role within the business, responsible for producing high‑quality 3D models and detailed fabrication drawings for structural and architectural steel projects.

The ideal candidate will have strong practical experience within the steelwork industry, a deep understanding of fabrication processes, and the ability to lead detailing tasks from concept through to completed manufacturing packs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Produce accurate Tekla Structures 3D models and detailed fabrication drawings.
  • Prepare assembly drawings, GA drawings, bolt lists, and material take‑offs.
  • Coordinate with structural engineers, project managers, and fabrication teams.
  • Identify and resolve design clashes or technical issues early in the process.
  • Ensure drawings meet industry standards and project specifications.
  • Support junior detailers and contribute to continuous improvement.
  • Attend design/coordination meetings when required.

Skills & Experience Required

  • Minimum 5+ years’ experience working as a Tekla Detailer in the steel industry.
  • Strong knowledge of structural and secondary steelwork.
  • Proficiency in Tekla Structures (advanced knowledge preferred).
  • Understanding of fabrication, welding symbols, tolerances, and site installation.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings and specifications confidently.
  • Excellent attention to detail and problem‑solving abilities.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to work to deadlines.

Desirable

  • Experience mentoring or supervising junior detailers.
  • Knowledge of BIM workflows and data exchange formats (IFC, DWG, etc.).
  • Familiarity with steel codes and standards (e.g., Eurocodes, BS standards).
