Job Title: Senior Procurement Specialist
Location: Peterborough, UK
Hours: 7:30am – 4:30pm, Monday to Friday
Salary: £35,000 – £40,000 (Depending on Experience)

As Senior Procurement Specialist, you will oversee strategic procurement operations while managing and mentoring one team member — making it a perfect next step for someone aspiring to move into management.

You’ll take ownership of supplier relationships, cost control, and procurement strategy, helping to drive business growth and operational efficiency within a dynamic, fast-paced environment.


Key Responsibilities

Strategic Sourcing

  • Develop and implement procurement strategies in line with business objectives

  • Identify and evaluate domestic and international suppliers to meet quality, cost, and delivery targets

Supplier Management

  • Build and maintain strong supplier relationships

  • Lead supplier performance reviews and negotiate contracts and pricing agreements

Cost Management

  • Drive cost-saving initiatives without compromising quality

  • Conduct market analysis to identify trends and cost opportunities

Team Support & Development

  • Manage and mentor one procurement team member

  • Help build a collaborative, high-performance procurement function

Compliance & Risk Management

  • Ensure procurement practices meet company policies and industry regulations

  • Proactively identify and mitigate supply chain risks

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Work closely with engineering, production, and project teams to support business objectives

  • Ensure timely and cost-effective sourcing for projects


Candidate Profile

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in a procurement/purchasing role, ideally in manufacturing or automotive

  • Proven negotiation, supplier management, and strategic sourcing skills

  • Strong communication, leadership, and time-management abilities

  • Proficiency in procurement systems and Microsoft Office

  • Ambitious and proactive with a desire to grow into a leadership role
