Job Title: CNC Lathe Setter / Programmer

About the Role We are seeking an experienced CNC Lathe Setter / Programmer (2, 3 and 4 axes) to join a busy Machine Shop on day shift. This is a permanent, full-time opportunity offering stability, training, and a supportive working environment.

Responsibilities

  • Set up and operate machines such as NC and CNC lathes, CNC milling machines, drills, and auxiliary equipment

  • Inspect workpieces for defects and measure accuracy using appropriate instruments

  • Read and interpret technical drawings, setting machines in line with blueprints or setup sheets

  • Use computer software to model cutting paths and program machines accordingly

  • Adjust machine settings to optimise production while maintaining quality standards

  • Select appropriate tools for specific materials and program machines accordingly

  • Troubleshoot and resolve machine issues as they arise

  • Perform routine machine maintenance

Requirements & Skills

  • Strong understanding of production procedures

  • Commitment to health and safety regulations (including use of protective gear)

  • Ability to read technical drawings and manuals

  • Analytical skills and attention to detail

  • Effective teamwork and communication skills

  • Physical stamina and strength

  • Experience in turning (minimum 3 years preferred)

  • Familiarity with Fanuc controls (preferred)

Additional Information

  • Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

  • Pay: £16.00 – £17.00 per hour

  • Hours: 39 per week

  • Schedule: Day shift (early finish Friday)

  • Additional Pay: Bonus scheme, quarterly bonus

  • Language: English preferred

  • Work Authorisation: United Kingdom required

  • Location: Crewkerne (on-site)
