The Role
As an Industrial Electrician, you will play a key role in ensuring the safe, reliable and efficient operation of the site’s electrical systems and production equipment.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out planned, preventive and reactive electrical maintenance across production lines and plant equipment.
- Inspect, test and maintain electrical systems, 3‑phase machinery, motors, inverters, and control panels.
- Diagnose and resolve electrical faults, minimising downtime across fast‑moving manufacturing processes.
- Support installation, commissioning and upgrade works on new machinery and electrical infrastructure.
- Assist with basic automation and controls tasks (e.g., sensor replacement, I/O checks, fault tracing on PLC‑controlled systems).
- Ensure compliance with electrical safety procedures, Safe Systems of Work and relevant engineering standards.
- Maintain accurate documentation including maintenance reports, electrical testing records and asset logs.
- Work collaboratively with engineering, production and external contractors to deliver reliable site performance.
The Requirements
- Proven experience as an Industrial Electrician within manufacturing, engineering, processing or heavy industry.
- Strong competency working with 3‑phase systems, motors, drives, power distribution and industrial electrical infrastructure.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, schematics and control diagrams.
- Experience with machinery fault-finding and maintenance in a fast‑paced environment.
- Basic awareness of PLC systems (Allen‑Bradley / Siemens) — ability to fault find is beneficial.
- Good understanding of safety regulations, isolations, and safe working practices.
- 18th Edition qualification essential; NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in Electrical Engineering preferred.
- Experience working on installation, commissioning or upgrade projects is desirable.
