Apprentice Welder Fabricator/ Assembly 

Location: Peterborough

Our client is seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Apprentice Welder Fabricator to join their growing engineering team in Peterborough.

This is an excellent opportunity to begin a career in engineering while gaining valuable hands-on experience alongside skilled and experienced professionals. You will receive practical, on-the-job training in welding, fabrication, and assembly, while working towards a recognised qualification.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Learn and develop skills in the fabrication and welding of a range of metal components.

  • Assist with the assembly and initial build of bespoke engineering products and components.

  • Support the team with assembly initiation, including preparing components, checking parts, and assisting with initial assembly processes.

  • Learn to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and assembly instructions with guidance from experienced colleagues.

  • Assist with fitting, assembling, and finishing fabricated components to the required standards.

  • Develop practical skills in MIG and TIG welding techniques.

  • Learn to safely operate a range of workshop tools, machinery, and fabrication equipment.

  • Work alongside experienced fabricators and engineers to ensure projects are completed safely, accurately, and on schedule.

  • Carry out basic quality checks on fabricated and assembled components.

  • Maintain a clean, tidy, and safe working environment in accordance with company procedures.

What We're Looking For

  • A genuine interest in engineering, welding, fabrication, assembly, or manufacturing.

  • A willingness to learn and develop practical engineering skills.

  • Good practical ability with strong attention to detail.

  • A positive attitude and strong work ethic.

  • The ability to follow instructions and work effectively as part of a team.

  • An interest in understanding how components are fabricated, fitted, and assembled into finished products.

  • GCSEs or equivalent qualifications, particularly Maths and English, are desirable.
