Press Brake Operator – Chard Salary: £13.50 – £14.00 per hour | Hours: 38 per week

We are currently recruiting for a Press Brake Operator to join a progressive manufacturing team in Chard.

The Role As a Press Brake Operator, you will play a key role in the production process, setting up and operating press brake machinery to produce precision metal components. Working from technical drawings and specifications, you will ensure high-quality outputs that meet project requirements.

Working Hours

  • Monday to Thursday: 8:00am – 4:30pm

  • Friday: 8:00am – 2:00pm

  • Total: 38 hours per week

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate press brake machinery to bend, shape and form metal components

  • Set up machines, including tooling and adjustments, for specific jobs

  • Read and interpret engineering drawings to achieve required tolerances

  • Carry out quality checks to ensure accuracy and consistency

  • Maintain equipment to ensure safe and efficient operation

  • Work collaboratively with colleagues to meet production targets

  • Follow health and safety regulations at all times

Requirements

  • Previous experience operating and setting up press brake machines is preferred, though full training can be provided for the right candidate

  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and work to precise measurements

  • Engineering background is essential

  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

  • Good communication skills and proactive problem-solving approach

  • Physical stamina to meet the demands of the role
