Mechanical Assembler / Fitter

We are seeking a skilled Mechanical Assembler / Fitter to join our long-established and respected engineering manufacturing company. This is a hands-on role involving the high-quality assembly and fitting of stainless steel equipment used in the food processing industry.

Role Overview

You will be responsible for the mechanical assembly and fitting of components to a high standard, contributing to the production of specialised food processing machinery.

Key Responsibilities

• Assemble and fit mechanical components for stainless steel machinery.

• Work effectively as part of a team in our production facility or, when required, at customer sites.

• Adhere to all company policies and procedures, including Health & Safety, quality standards, and production schedules.

Essential Experience & Skills

• Proven experience with mechanical motor fitting, stripping, and rebuilding.

• Skilled in assembling pneumatic systems.

• Experience fitting bearing housings.

• Strong ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.

• Proficient in using a wide range of hand tools and mechanical equipment.

• Experience in building bespoke/special purpose machinery.

• Familiarity with hydraulic systems.

• Maintain a clean, safe, and organised work environment.

• Ability to follow risk assessments and method statements.

• Comply with all company rules and directives as communicated by management.

Additional Requirements

• You must supply your own basic hand tools. Specialist tools will be provided.

• City & Guilds qualifications in Engineering or a solid mechanical engineering background are highly desirable.
