Logistics Manager

Salary: up to £45,000
Working pattern: Full-time, office-based

We’re working with a growing business to find a proactive and organised Logistics Manager to oversee its day-to-day logistics operations across the UK and Europe.

Working closely with a small, close-knit team, you’ll manage and support a Logistics Coordinator while remaining hands-on with the daily operational workload. From coordinating shipments and transport to managing import/export documentation and resolving logistical challenges, you’ll play a key role in ensuring products reach customers on time and in line with requirements.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys taking ownership, building strong relationships and improving processes within a growing business.

The Role

As Logistics Manager, you’ll be responsible for coordinating the movement, storage and distribution of goods, ensuring shipments are planned and executed efficiently from origin through to customer delivery.

Key Responsibilities:

Logistics Management & Planning

  • Manage and coordinate day-to-day logistics operations across UK and European shipments.

  • Plan the movement, storage and distribution of goods in line with customer requirements and stock availability.

  • Monitor shipment and vessel schedules, proactively identifying potential delays and communicating updates.

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with transport providers, shipping lines, clearing agents and external warehouses.

  • Act as a key point of contact for daily logistics communications with external service providers.

  • Manage and support the Logistics Coordinator, providing guidance and operational cover where required.

Day-to-Day Operations

  • Raise purchase orders and sales orders within the ERP system, ensuring all information is accurate and up to date.

  • Coordinate container haulage, pallet distribution, deliveries and collections.

  • Ensure supplier documentation is received, checked and processed correctly.

  • Support import/export processes, including the preparation and management of relevant shipping and customs documentation.

  • Coordinate re-pack operations and ensure stock movements, production reports and waste are accurately recorded.

  • Take ownership of day-to-day logistical issues, finding practical solutions and escalating significant operational or commercial risks when necessary.

  • Maintain clear communication with customers, suppliers and service providers to ensure smooth operations.

Process Improvement

  • Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, accuracy and communication across the logistics function.

  • Support the development and implementation of improved processes and ways of working.

  • Ensure procedures are documented and followed consistently.

  • Contribute ideas and practical solutions to support the continued growth of the business.

About You

We’re looking for someone who is confident taking ownership, enjoys being hands-on and can balance attention to detail with the bigger operational picture.

Ideally, you’ll have:

  • At least 3 years’ experience in logistics, including import operations.

  • Experience coordinating shipments, transport and deliveries.

  • A good understanding of import/export processes and associated documentation.

  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities.

  • Excellent communication skills and the confidence to build relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

  • A proactive, practical approach to problem-solving.

  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy.

  • The ability to work independently while contributing positively to a small team.

  • A positive, can-do attitude, with honesty and integrity.

Desirable Experience

  • Experience within fresh produce, FMCG or international logistics.

  • Experience working with shipping lines, clearing agents, haulage providers and external warehouses.

  • Familiarity with Prophet ERP or a similar ERP system.

What’s on Offer?

  • Salary up to £45,000

  • The opportunity to join a growing business with a close-knit team.

  • A varied, hands-on management role with real responsibility.

  • The chance to influence processes and contribute to the ongoing development of the logistics operation.
