Job Role: HGV Technician / HGV Mechanic

Salary: £47,000 per annum (OTE £55,000-£60,000+)
Location: Scunthorpe, Lincolnshire
Hours: Rotating Shift Pattern

  • Week 1: Monday to Friday, 06:00am - 2:30pm
  • Weeks 2 & 3: Monday to Friday, 10:00am - 8:00pm
  • 1 in 3 Saturdays: 06:00am - 2:00pm (paid at 1.5x rate)

The Company:

Interaction Technical have partnered with a well-established commercial vehicle maintenance and fleet services provider to recruit an experienced HGV Technician to join their growing workshop team in Scunthorpe.

Supporting a large and diverse fleet of commercial vehicles, our client is recognised for delivering high-quality maintenance, repair and breakdown services across the region. Due to continued growth and investment, they are seeking a skilled HGV Mechanic looking for long-term stability, excellent earning potential and genuine career progression opportunities.

The Role:

  • Carry out routine servicing, maintenance and repairs on a mixed fleet of HGVs and commercial vehicles.
  • Diagnose and rectify mechanical, electrical and hydraulic faults efficiently.
  • Conduct vehicle inspections, defect reporting and preventative maintenance activities.
  • Strip, inspect and rebuild vehicle components including engines, gearboxes, axles, suspensions and braking systems.
  • Perform testing and fault-finding to ensure vehicles meet DVSA and company compliance standards.
  • Complete repair and maintenance work to manufacturer specifications.
  • Attend breakdowns and provide roadside assistance as part of a rota system.
  • Undertake mobile maintenance and repair work at customer sites on a rota basis.
  • Accurately complete job cards, service sheets and maintenance documentation.

The Requirements:

  • Previous experience working as an HGV Technician, HGV Mechanic, Commercial Vehicle Technician or PSV Technician (essential).
  • Level 3 qualification in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance & Repair or equivalent (essential).
  • Strong diagnostic and fault-finding skills on commercial vehicles.
  • Experience carrying out servicing, maintenance, inspections and repairs on HGV fleets.
  • Ability to strip and rebuild major vehicle components.
  • Knowledge of hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical and mechanical systems.
  • Full UK driving licence (essential).
  • HGV Licence (desirable but not essential).
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a professional workshop team.
  • Flexible and proactive attitude towards breakdown, call-out and mobile repair work.
