Practice Accountant – Build Your Experience, Grow Your Career

Ferndown, Dorset | Up to £30,000 DOE
Monday–Friday, 9:00am–5:15pm | Full-time, Permanent

You’ve built a foundation in accountancy. Now you’re ready for more.

More variety, more client contact and the opportunity to develop your skills with a practice that supports your progression.

We’re recruiting for an established and growing accountancy practice in Ferndown, where you’ll work closely with a Client Director, support a varied portfolio of clients and build your confidence across accounts preparation and tax.

With professional study support, 25 days’ holiday plus bank holidays and genuine development opportunities, this is a chance to take your next step within a supportive team.

The Role

You’ll get to know the businesses behind the numbers, building client relationships while helping deliver an accurate, timely and professional accounting service.

Your day-to-day work will include:

  • Preparing statutory accounts for a varied portfolio of clients.
  • Preparing and submitting VAT and Corporation Tax Returns.
  • Working with accounting software and manual records.
  • Reviewing financial information for accuracy, completeness and compliance.
  • Handling client queries by telephone, email and Microsoft Teams.
  • Following up on outstanding information and keeping records up to date.
  • Working alongside colleagues to meet deadlines and maintain high service standards.

What You’ll Bring

You already have experience within accountancy practice and enjoy combining attention to detail with a helpful, client-focused approach.

We’d love to hear from you if you have:

  • Ideally, at least one year’s accountancy practice experience.
  • Experience preparing accounts, VAT returns and/or Corporation Tax Returns.
  • Confidence using accounting software and Microsoft Office.
  • Good organisational skills and the ability to manage competing deadlines.
  • Strong communication skills and confidence speaking directly with clients.
  • The enthusiasm to learn, develop and take on greater responsibility.

You don’t need to have every qualification completed to take your next step. Whether you’re AAT, ACCA or ACA qualified, part-qualified or currently studying, your relevant experience and willingness to develop are what we want to hear about.

Support for Your Career—and Benefits to Enjoy Along the Way

  • Up to £30,000 salary, depending on experience.
  • Study support towards professional qualifications.
  • Career development and progression opportunities.
  • 25 days’ holiday plus bank holidays, with the option to buy and sell leave.
  • Company pension.
  • Free financial advice covering pensions, mortgages and investments.
  • Discounted gym membership and a cycle-to-work scheme.
  • On-site parking.
  • Staff incentives, regular social events and company activities.
  • Breakfast and monthly team lunches.

If you’re an Accounts Assistant, Junior Accountant, Accounts Semi-Senior or Practice Accountant ready to build on your experience, we’d love to talk.
