We are recruiting for an experienced Flexo Web Machine Operator / Print Minder to join a busy production environment based in Huntingdon on a permanent basis.

This is a great opportunity for someone with experience in machine printing, labelling, flexographic printing, or similar production machinery who is looking to join a company where they can settle, develop, and progress within the role.

The salary is offered within a banding of £31,500 – £39,000 DOE, with salary progression available within the banding once fully settled into the role & operating confidently to company standards.

The company is particularly keen to speak with candidates who have experience on machinery such as Edale, Windmöller, Koenig, Gallus or Bobst, ideally working with paper or board substrates. Gallus machine experience would be extremely advantageous, as these skills are considered highly transferable to the machinery & processes used on site.

The successful candidate will be working on fast-paced machine lines, typically as part of a team of 3–5 people per operation / machine line. Both machine lines include a turning belt, meaning the product only needs to be run once rather than twice, removing the need for products to be turned by hand or re-run along the line.

The company is open to candidates with strong transferable skills from other relevant machine types or similar sectors, provided they can adapt to the company’s way of working, operating standards & production processes.

The successful candidate will be responsible for setting up and operating flexo-web machinery to produce products to the correct quality standards, at target speed, and with minimal waste.

Key Responsibilities

  • Rapidly set up machinery to achieve target running speeds and OEE expectations
  • Operate fast-paced machine lines as part of a team of 3–5 people
  • Carry out make-readies to a high standard, allowing the machine to run efficiently and consistently
  • Follow job bag instructions and approved master samples accurately
  • Operate process machinery safely, following all safety features, stop procedures, lock-out systems, safe systems of work, risk assessments and COSHH requirements
  • Identify and report any potential machine or production issues to the Production Manager
  • Understand corrugated material types and identify potential material issues
  • Carry out daily maintenance and support wider TPM tasks
  • Maintain a clean, safe and organised working environment in line with 5S standards
  • Take responsibility for assistants, feeders, stackers and packers where required
  • Support other areas of the business and carry out additional duties within your capability, depending on workload requirements

Skills & Experience Required

  • Previous Flexo-Web experience is preferred, ideally 2 years or more
  • Experience with Gallus machinery would be extremely advantageous
  • Experience with Edale, Windmöller, Koenig, Bobst or similar machinery would also be highly beneficial
  • Experience within labelling, machine printing, flexographic printing, packaging, paper, board or similar production environments would be considered
  • Strong transferable machine operating skills from other relevant machinery or sectors may also be suitable
  • Ability to adapt to company processes, quality standards and ways of working
  • Good understanding of machine set-up, make-readies and production efficiency
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to identify root causes
  • Comfortable working on fast-paced production lines as part of a small team
  • Ability to work accurately and methodically
  • Good literacy and numeracy skills
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Flexible approach to working hours, including the ability to move to 12-hour shifts during peak periods
  • Willingness to learn new machines, processes and operating methods
  • Reliable, trustworthy and a strong team player
  • Able to remain calm under pressure and work effectively in a changing production environment
  • Positive, motivated and willing to support others when needed

The Ideal Candidate

You will be someone who takes pride in their work, understands the importance of quality & is motivated to produce the highest standard of output at the best possible speed with the least waste.

You may already have direct Flexo-Web experience, or you may come from a similar machine printing, labelling, packaging or production background where you have built strong transferable skills. Experience with Gallus machinery would be particularly beneficial due to the similarity & transferability of the skills required.

You will be confident working as part of a team, able to use your own initiative, and comfortable working within a fast-paced machine operation. Flexibility is essential, as working hours may change during peak production periods.
