Workshop Supervisor – Steel Fabrication | Leighton Buzzard (LU7)
We are currently recruiting for an experienced Workshop Supervisor to join a well-established steel fabrication company based in Leighton Buzzard. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with a strong background in structural steel looking to step into a key leadership role.
Location: Leighton Buzzard (LU7)
Salary: £42,000 – £48,000 per year
Job Type: Full-time, Permanent
Shift: Days
The Role:
As Workshop Supervisor, you will take ownership of day-to-day operations within a busy fabrication workshop. You’ll be leading a team of skilled fabricators and welders, ensuring projects are delivered on time, to specification, and in line with health & safety standards.
Key Duties:
- Supervising and coordinating workshop staff including fabricators and welders
- Allocating work and managing workflow to meet production deadlines
- Reading and interpreting engineering drawings to ensure accurate fabrication
- Monitoring quality throughout production and addressing any issues promptly
- Driving productivity while maintaining high standards of workmanship
- Ensuring compliance with all health & safety regulations on site
- Managing materials, stock levels, and workshop equipment
- Reporting progress and supporting overall project delivery
What We’re Looking For:
- Proven experience within structural steel or steel fabrication
- Previous experience in a supervisory, foreman, or lead role
- Ability to read and work from technical/engineering drawings
- Strong leadership and communication skills
- Good understanding of workshop processes, machinery, and safety practices
- Organised, proactive, and able to manage workloads effectively
