Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) – Key Stage 1/2

Location: Slough, Berkshire

HLTA – The Role

  • Support high-quality teaching and learning across Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2, including covering classes during teacher absence.

  • Deliver engaging small-group interventions and targeted booster sessions to help pupils achieve key learning outcomes.

  • Work closely with class teachers to plan, prepare, and deliver structured learning activities.

  • Provide 1:1 support for pupils who require additional help, including children with SEN or EAL.

  • Contribute to assessments, track pupil progress, and assist with maintaining an organised and effective classroom environment.

HLTA – Key Requirements

  • A recognised HLTA qualification or substantial experience working at a higher level within a primary school.

  • Proven experience supporting or leading lessons across Key Stage 1 and/or 2.

  • Strong understanding of the primary curriculum and effective behaviour/classroom management strategies.

  • Confident, proactive, and passionate about supporting children’s learning and wellbeing.

  • Excellent communication, teamwork, and organisational skills.
