Assistant Chef

Location: Cambridge Science Park

Salary: £27,000 per annum

Hours: Monday to Friday, 07:00–14:30 (no evenings or weekends!)

We’re delighted to be partnering with an innovative business based on the Cambridge Science Park that truly understands the power of great food to bring people together. Their onsite restaurant is at the heart of the company - providing fresh, delicious meals that keep their workforce energised and inspired throughout the day.

They’re now seeking a passionate and enthusiastic Commis Chef to join their friendly catering team. This is a fantastic opportunity for a skilled cook or baker who enjoys working with fresh ingredients and creating quality dishes in a positive, supportive environment.

The Role

Your key responsibilities will include:

• Assisting in the preparation and service of a range of dishes, from breakfast classics to soups, desserts, and lunch specials.
• Maintaining the highest standards of hygiene and food safety, adhering to HACCP and company policies.
• Ensuring the kitchen and serving areas are always clean, organised, and well-presented.
• Supporting the Catering Manager and wider team to deliver high-quality food and service.
• Helping with the training and development of junior staff within the kitchen team

What We’re Looking For

• Proven experience working in a professional kitchen, ideally within hospitality or contract catering.
• A solid understanding of cooking and baking techniques.
• Confident in stock management and control.
• A team player with a positive, hands-on approach.
• Passionate about fresh, high-quality food and excellent customer service.
• Knowledgeable about Health & Safety and food hygiene regulations.
• Able to remain calm, adaptable, and efficient in a busy kitchen environment.
