Interaction Recruitment are recruiting for an experienced Assistant Branch Manager to join their busy client in Halesowen. The successful candidate will have a builders merchant background and would have already have a successful track record within a Assistant Branch Manager role. Working Hours: Mon to Fri 07:00 to 16:00 & 1 Saturday on 1 off 07:00 to 11:00

Salary: £35,000 per annum

This role involves:

  • Support the Branch Manager in the daily running of the branch to ensure smooth operations, great customer service, strong sales performance, and a safe working environment.

  • Assist in leading and motivating the team to meet sales and service goals.

  • Help manage stock levels and ensure accurate records.

  • Support compliance with health & safety, company policies, and legal requirements.

  • Maintain good relationships with customers, suppliers, and team members.

  • Step in for the Branch Manager when needed, including handling staff issues and administrative tasks.

  • Drive sales and profitability through excellent service and customer relationships.

  • Monitor competitor activity and support pricing strategies.

  • Help develop and support staff performance and training.

  • Foster a positive, respectful team culture.

  • Ensure stock is well-managed and recorded accurately.

  • Assist with stock takes and efficient branch operations.

  • Promote a clean, safe work environment and help ensure all compliance tasks are completed.

  • Meeting sales targets and service standards.

  • Smooth branch operation, even in the Manager’s absence.

  • Drive a high team morale and strong customer relationships.

  • Safe, well-organized working conditions.

To be considered for this role you must have / be:

  • Management training or at least 2 years within a management / assistant manager role
  • Previously worked in a builders merchant environment
  • Able to lead by example
  • Strong experience of dealing with customers and suppliers
  • Stock control experience
  • Health and safety knowledge
  • Computer literate
  • a strong understanding of branch operations and sales
