Job Title:                  Brake Press Operator

Location:                  Kettering
Employment:            Full-time, permanent

Pay:                          £13.50 - £15.00 per hour

Hours:                      Monday to Thursday 0800-1700 and Friday 0800-1430


Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Brake Press Operator to join our clients’ manufacturing team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for setting up and operating brake press machines to bend, shape, and form metal components according to precise specifications. This role requires attention to detail, knowledge of metal fabrication, and a commitment to safety and quality.


Key Responsibilities:

Set up and operate hydraulic or mechanical brake press machines

Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and job orders to determine machine setup and material requirements

Select and install appropriate tooling, dies, and fixtures

Adjust machine settings to ensure accurate bends and dimensions

Perform quality checks using measuring tools

Monitor the production process and adjust as needed to maintain quality standards

Maintain a clean and organised work area

Follow all safety protocols and company policies

Perform routine maintenance and report mechanical issues to maintenance staff

Record production data and complete documentation as required


Qualifications:

3 – 5 years’ proven experience operating a brake press machine in a manufacturing or metal fabrication environment

Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and blueprints

Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills

Familiarity with safety procedures and use of PPE in a production environment

Ability to lift heavy materials and stand for extended periods

Basic maths skills and attention to detail


Working Conditions:

Manufacturing shop floor environment

Exposure to noise, dust, and machinery

May require overtime or weekend work depending on production needs
